DOWNTOWN MODESTO HOLIDAY THEMED PUBLIC ART

Winter Window Wander-land enlivens Downtown storefronts with holiday-themed public art by local artists!

CALL FOR BUSINESSES! This new initiative is asking local street level businesses (with windows) to work with local artists to enliven Downtown storefronts with holiday-themed public art to enhance Downtown walkability and increase foot traffic to Downtown businesses.

  • Christmas window display with red and white peppermint-themed decorations, candy jars, a gingerbread girl, a gingerbread house, and a sign saying 'Merry Christmas'.

    This new Downtown Modesto Partnership initiative asks local artists to enliven Downtown storefronts with holiday-themed public art to enhance Downtown walkability and increase foot traffic to Downtown businesses. DMP will promote the project through digital and physical marketing as part of its Downtown Winter Wander-Land campaign.

  • Festive holiday window display with painted snow, trees, gnomes wearing colorful hats, wrapped gifts, snowflakes, and a message reading 'peace on Earth'.

    Artists and business owners selected for this program will work together to agree on a design direction. Participating businesses are responsible for the artist commission rate of $5/SF of decorate-able space, with a max of $160 per business reimbursed by DMP:

    Example 1: Business wants 8 x 8 feet (64 SF) of storefront decorated. Business pays artist commission rate of $320, with DMP reimbursing $160.


    Example 2: Business wants 8 x 12 feet (96 SF) of storefront decorated. Business pays artist commission rate of $480, with DMP reimbursing $160.

  • Christmas window decorations with snowman and snowflake designs on glass panels

    Requirements:

    1. Businesses must be available for a design/site meeting with their matched artist.

    2. Businesses must work with artist on design to the satisfaction of all parties.

    3. Businesses must be available to accommodate artist installation.

    4. Art can be multi-media but must be visible in photos taken from outside the business at all hours.

    5. Artists must work with business owners to remove the art.
